Anyone who keeps track of classic car prices knows that prices for classic Porsches have been trending sharply upward for some time now. The early 911 market in particular has seen explosive growth, taking the cars out of reach of enthusiasts on an average budget.

But that doesn't mean there aren't deals out there for other Porsche models. Prices for early 944s for example are still reasonable and you can easily pick up a decent example of one of the best handling cars ever made for less than $5,000. We just acquired this 1985 944 coupe with a 5-speed manual. Though it has some paint issues and needs a windshield- along with a laundry list of small needs- it runs and drives great and should clean up nicely.
